Anita Murphy studied a BA Hons in Documentary Photography at the University of Wales, College Newport under the guidance of such renowned photographers as Paul Seawright and Ken Grant.
She began her photographic career in Berlin, one of the creative epicentres of photography, and where her passion for photography was further nurtured. Anita Murphy’s style of photography has been possible through her ability to work with people, often people in the most adverse situations.
She works with sensitivity and patience, in her treatment of the subjects and awareness of their value. She has a technical refinement that has enabled her to work in the most varied of environments helped her get a clear understanding of what it is photographers really need in daily practice.
Murphy returned to Ireland in 2004 to pursue her career in photography. Her work has been exhibited in London, Berlin and Ireland. She has been published in the Irish Times and Galway Now.
